Significant part of the doors of your home is the door handle. Its choice depends on the overall style of your furniture, on the material of the door and of course, on the functionality.
We call a door handle the attached mechanism which is used for opening and closing the door. If this operating mechanism has a round shape we usually call it a door knob. In different countries and cultures people use different types of handles. For example in the USA knobs are more popular while in Europe people use mostly use door levers.

Practically door handles are easier for operating. Door knobs may be more difficult to operate for old and young ones. That is why in houses where there are young children and elder people it is better to place lever-operated handles rather than knobs. One of the most commonly used types of handle is a mechanism with a spindle which is a screw-style axle. Some handles may be attached on the two sides by sliding them onto the spindle or by screwing. Those handles which lose traction may be repaired easily by adjusting the set screw that prevents them from slipping on the spindle. There is another type of handle which slides onto the spindle but is affixed only to the door, and there is no set of screws in it.

There are few basic types of handles for your house which you can choose. The chosen type depends on the room and on the door. You will place different handles on a wooden, glass or metal door. The most typical handle types are: entrance /used for entry doors which include keyed cylinders/, privacy /used in bathrooms, bedrooms, they are lockable and do not have keyed cylinders/, passage /used in closet and hall, they do not lock/. Another modern type of handle is door pull handles which can be seen mostly in modern offices and other buildings, as well as in some houses. They are made of stainless steel, nickel and chrome. There are very attractive and nice models. They can be seen in different size, shape, so can suit all sorts of different doors. If you insist on the appearance of the door handles you may choose some really attractive and suitable for your interior ones. There is also a great variety of cabinet handles. Depending on your furniture style at home, as well as your own personal preferences, you can choose your most suitable handles for the cabinets. Their aesthetic appearance is very important. Only some drawers need to be locked if they consist if important issues inside. In most cases you can put decorative handles which not only bed functional, but also will have a decorative effect to your room. Knobs are more suitable for glass door handles, but you can also choose some fine metal handles for your glass door.
Since home security is very important for your safety, the types of handles and door hardware accessories is very important. When you decide and plan what handles to put, you start choosing among the great variety of hardware accessories like door holders, door stops, ball catches, door pulls, door knockers, door hinges and some other hardware.
